Please Pray for the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Community of Spring Valley (San Diego), CA Following Rainstorms, Mudslides and Flooding

Amid the aftermath of a devastating rainstorm, mudslides, and the subsequent flooding of the Protection of the Birth-Giver of God (Pokrova) Ukrainian Orthodox parish in Spring Valley (San Diego) CA, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA has extended its heartfelt and prayerful support to the affected community.

In times of distress prayer provides a collective refuge for those affected, fostering a sense of unity and shared resilience. Through prayer, individuals can find comfort, express their grief, and seek guidance for the challenging path ahead.  Realizing the importance of prayer in the wake of a natural disaster the UOC of the USA has prioritized the request that all parishes and members of the Church pray in unity for God’s mercy upon those who are suffering damage, guidance in rebuilding what is damaged, and resilience to not only renovate the parish, but, assist others who are suffering in the community.

With this in mind, the hierarchs of the Church have expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian Orthodox community in San Diego, emphasizing the importance of coming together during challenging times.   The UOC of the USA implores parish communities from across the nation to join in special prayers for the parish and parishioners of the Pokrova of the Mother of God Ukrainian Orthodox parish and community.

As the affected community in San Diego begins the process of rebuilding, the support from the UOC of the USA serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity, showcasing the strength that arises when communities unite in the face of adversity.  As the faithful unite in prayer, the parish that has suffered damage will not only find solace but will also benefit from the spiritual reinforcement that can guide the rebuilding process, instilling a renewed sense of faith and determination to overcome the adversity brought about by the natural disaster.

Speaking with the leadership of the parish community, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel quoted Psalm 46, where we read these words of encouragement and comfort: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in distress.”

“
Almighty God, Creator, and preserver of our world. We ask you to hear our humble prayers for all those afflicted by our recent storms and flooding in California, especially the clergy and faithful of the Protection of the Birth-Giver of God Ukrainian Orthodox parish in Spring Valley, CA.
Protect both life and property and, in your mercy, bring relief to all affected areas.
Heal those broken in body and spirit. Protect all those who are most vulnerable. Turn the hearts of all to you, the God of all comfort. For you are a Merciful and Loving God and to You we give glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.  AMEN.

May the Lord grant strength and resilience to the affected parish during their recovery.
